Personal Statement

Why do you want to study this course or subject?

I want to study this subject because I have always had a passion for creativity and storytelling. From a young age, I have been fascinated by how lighting, colour, and performance can shape the mood of a scene and tell a complete story. Over time this has confirmed that I want to specialise in lighting for film, theatre, or live events.

How have your qualifications and studies helped you prepare?

While studying Creative Media, I have built a foundation in both technical and creative production. Through college projects I have gained experience in acting, directing, editing, photography, and lighting design. Working on short films, documentaries, and group work improved my teamwork, communication, and problem-solving. I also developed confidence using Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, and Lightroom.

What have you done outside education?

Outside education, I have independently developed my creative skills by studying at home, experimenting with lighting setups, and producing personal photography and videography projects. I have built a portfolio of my work, created small animations, and supported productions and events. These experiences strengthened my confidence, creativity, and motivation to continue this subject at a higher level.
